Session 3: Data Acquisition

Data acquisition

A. C. Meigh

Woodward-Clyde Consultants, West Woodhay, Berkshire RG15 OBH, UK

Data acquisition at the planning stage of a project involves the identification of hazards, namely, major hazards, tractable hazards and materials hazards. Hazards can have a significant effect on the cost of a project, especially if discovered during construction. Data acquisition should include sub-surface investigations at the planning stage to minimize the risk of expensive surprises.
